Chano's Mexican Restaurant

Chano's Drivethru...

Star rating (5)

Looking for a quick pastrami sandwich? Chanos specializes in Mexican eats, but are just as well known for their pastrami sandwiches.

This is not a sit-down dining experience, but the sandwiches are nice and it caters to the quick in-and-out, fast food diners. Meals are reasonably priced.

Chanos is best known as a late night walk-up restaurant serving the student population at the University of Southern California.

Enjoy, and Fight On!

Easy Dining

The Woodspoon, Brazilian Cuisine

The Woodspoon
107 West 9th St
Los Angeles, CA 90015
213-629-1765

Star rating (5)

Tucked away in a humble restaurant space on 9th Street, the Woodspoon is a delightful little diner. Dress is casual, the atmosphere is very relaxed, and Chef Natalia frequently interacts with her customers.

The dining experience is not quite the norm for California. Dishes are generally great, particularly any of the salads or greens. The chicken pot pie is excellent as is the "pork burger." The flan and coconut flan are particularly tasty.

Don't expect quick service or you will be disappointed. The atmosphere is "mom and pops" and owner Nataly cooks everything on the menu. It takes a little while to get your meals, but once you are prepared for the 'slow' service, the meals are delicious.

Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson and Nicholas Cage Adventure

I'm Clayton A. de Leon, folks know me as Clay. Just like Cher...just Clay.

I recently purchased a loft in Downtown Los Angeles, the Historic Core, on Broadway. The building is the historic 1930 Art Deco - Eastern Columbia Loft Building (EC).

Yes, there are celebrities here, and the word in the building is: don't advertise. Maybe later I'll let you know who lives here.

Historic Eastern Columbia Lofts

I can tell you I've seen Lindsay Lohan (with Samantha Ronson) and Nicholas Cage looking at available penthouses for sale, although it looks like neither of them will purchase here.

Lindsay got in the penthouse elevator as I exited. She even said hi, I didn't respond, mostly because I didn't know who she was. I'm a dork when it comes to celebrity recognition. The paparazzi was here, trying to get into our secure building. They were quite unsuccessful.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson visited EC.

Nicholas Cage was less noticeable when he visited the building. He came by twice, but sans paparazzi and drove an incredibly shiny vintage Rolls Royce (or Mercedes Benz), again, I'm no car aficionado, so there it is.

I've been living here for all of two months and the excitement is overwhelming. Living on Broadway, in the Theatre District is simply awesome.

A city representative that spoke to our homeowner's association said there are 40,000 living in downtown LA at this time. They project that number to rise to 80,000 in the next five years.

Put into perspective, Los Angeles is a city of 14 million or so, and only 40,000 live downtown. Gotta love this city.

If it's good enough for Nicholas Cage, it's good enough for me.

When I'm not cruising the streets of Los Angeles, looking for an exciting restaurant or shopping site, I spend my time swimming and sitting in the Jacuzzi on the rooftop of this gorgeous building.

And there are some fantastic restaurants in downtown, I'll create a list in a future entry.
